Help me understand Andy's death

Because it still doesn't make sense to me how he could have been cut in half like that when Jason macheted him downward, not sideways. I can see if Jason swung the machete towards his torso, but he didn't. So for Andy to have lost two of his legs would have been physically impossible. Now I can look past the other deaths in the series but Andy's death really is unrealistic for me to look past. I can't understand how he would have lost his legs if Jason didn't even machete him in a fashion that would have severed them and his torso.
