If you have read the book (which is rather hard to find), Damone is from Philadelphia and moved over from there just before summer holidays. He befriend Mark Ratner while they were working a summer job.
That's why Damone "The Cool Guy" is friend's with a somewhat geeky kid.
I was going 2 say how/why Damone w/d click w/ Ratner that soon? Or at all? I always thought they grew-up, 2 that point, together. From sand box daz. Or grade school. Did the book come 1st or 2nd?
