Anyone here ever go to a taping?

I know we have some David Letterman fans that post here and some with ties to New York City. I'm just wondering if anyone here ever went to one of his shows while he was on NBC? Letterman is such a complicated person to me...I didn't think his CBS show was nearly as good as his NBC show and I didn't like how (I think) he changed as a person as the years went along. However, I loved his NBC show (I actually remember watching his NBC morning show in 1980). I used to stay up late in the Summer months and watch his shows while I was on Summer vacation (I stayed up late last night and it brought back memories of watching those shows). There was nothing like watching "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night With David Letterman" back then.

Anyway, I was just curious if anyone had ever seen his NBC show live and, if so, could you give a description of what it was like. Thank you!
