What was so significant about "the pink socks"?

Can someone clarify that for me? I mean, this movie has so many psychological twists as it is...but for some reason, I just can't help but wonder what the pink socks are supposed to symbolize.

At the beginning of the film, when Mark is being interviewed by the panel of men, look closely at their socks. They are wearing pink socks. Especially visible is the man on the very far right of the table.

This is a film where no answers are given easily. My guess is that the group of Pink Sock Wearing Men hired Mark to investigate the goings on of a fellow Pink Sock Wearer, with the intention of finding out if he is still loyal to their organization.

Perhaps my vision is too materialistic, but my impression was that the pink socks society was a sort spy organization that developed some kind of bioweapon, Mark was exposed and impregnated Anna...that would explain the "end of the world" when the movie is closing.

I am pretty sure that the guys with the pink socks were supposed to represent the Jews. That guy who chases Mark at the end (who is one of the guys who was interviewing him at the beginning), his whole character was basically a racist Jewish caricature. The pink socks were like a metaphor for the Jewish Illuminati. Not that I believe in that kind of thing, but the director of the film certainly seemed to.

Isn't everything, oy veh!

I mean, do you disagree? I thought it was fairly obvious if you pay attention to the main pink-socks guy with the glasses. He even kinda had that ultra-Jewish 1980's look, like David Kleinfeld from Carlito's Way.
-The apparent nepotism among pink-sock wearers
-The seemingly-infinite amounts of money to spend and reward Mark with
-How he closes out Mark's interview like he's in charge of the panel, and asks the other bosses if they have "any questions?"
-The discussion about it being "uneconomical" for to Mark waste his time on "drowning dogs" like his family when they need him back at his job to help save the "drowning world" (by working for their VIP client again)
-His direct influence over the police force at the end

I don't believe in all this but I've known a few anti-semites and this is pretty much how they picture the Jews

As I said below ... jokingly .... pink signifies femininity, and a sock is the shape of a vagina ... so pink sock ... you figure it out! ;-)

What else would a pink sock represent? A soft pink pocket to put "something" in maybe? ;-)
