Tried to show this to some 20 year olds, they couldn't sit through it

I guess times and movies have changed. I tried to introduce this movie to a bunch of people in their 20's and for their lives they couldn't sit through it, much less get into the story. They just found it boring from the outset. I guess one has to be of a certain age to appreciate it.

Sad thing is I was 12 and saw this in the movie theater and still love it today. Cry everytime I watch it. Those days of the 70's and 80's are gone forever but alive in man made inventions such as celluloid. THANK GOD.

Kids today many love my era and some hate it. And that's all there is too it.

It's their loss. I saw it first when I was 11 in the theater, it wasn't my kind of film, and still I liked it. As an adult, I love it. They won't be making many like that any more, and haven't for a long time.

There's lots of thoughtful, creative people of all ages that would really appreciate this film. I really feel that age has a minor impact on movie appreciation, it's all about temperament.

I remember watching this movie in my preteens on HBO and I thought it was great. It's the kind of movie you would watch on a rainy day.

I'm 23 & liked it. I gave it 8/10. I prefer Ingmar Bergmans Wild Strawberries though. Very similar movies and wouldn't surprise me if the director was inspired by it.

I'm 20 years old. I can sit through it. It's all about taste you know? But I do not agree with the downvoting on films like jaws, lawrence of arabia, and other old time classics. I don't believe blockbusters are suppose to take that spot, especially by marvel.

I certainly understand the age difference. When I was a young man (I am 68 as of this entry), there were movies that I found boring. I wanted excitement, as do all young people. As I got older, my tastes changed to reflect my maturity. I didn't need car crashes and explosions all the time. Films like this one resonate more with adults than children and teenagers. My top two dramas are this film and The Shawshank Redemption.
Oh, and by the way, I also still love action films, and am a big fan of superhero films...ALL superhero films - DC and Marvel. When I was growing up, superheroes were treated as exclusively children's fare. I am glad I was able to live long enough to see superheroes treated with the respect I thought they deserved.
