Is it ever stated who the Humungus was?

Has the identity of the Humungus ever been revealed? If not, does anyone have a guess?

reply

Wasn't it Nixon after his body makeover?

I can't believe I'm the first to say this, I mean really:

No-one cared who he was until he put on the mask.

I always assumed it was some poke at Arnie - the Germanic type.

That's Lord Hummungus to you!

He is the warrior of the wasteland. The Ayotolla of Rock and Rolla.

Consider the following:

Human + Goose = Humungus

Ok, just kidding. No need to flame.

Actually I loved the character of Jim Goose. He was the lifeblood of the Bronze. Would have been interesting if he ended up as the Humungus but he would have needed a spitload of steroids to get that jacked up.

I think it was Goose, due to the scarring on his body.

reply

the Goose couldn't pump enough steroids in his body to get anywhere near Humungus.

Going by his medals he was ex-military and the gun was most likely a gift for years of service or honourable discharge. Which could explain his scars too. Being in the military would have gave him survival skills along with leadership ability. It's also to show the audience he was once a good guy with a family and the wasteland and end of the world can twist even the best person into a psycho.

When I was a lot younger I had thought that maybe it was the station master from the first Mad Max https://sp.yimg.com/ib/th?id=JN.CzyYz3xNy7Tbhdm6BmVFhQ&pid=15.1&P=0

he seemed a pretty big guy.. he was bold.. I got the vibe from the film that there were little bits making you think he had been some kind of cop or solider (possibly stuff left over from when they considerd it being Goose)..

reply

Are you saying that Humungous was Mcafee from the 1st film?
Or just a bodybuilder experiencing roid rage...

reply

When I was younger Yeah I thought it might be the guy from the first film the one IMDB says is played by Reg Evans (Listed as the Character the Station Master) The one Max goes to in order to try and retire in the 1st film.

I guess I thought the voice sounded a little similar, and they were a similar enough build that you could see the station Master ending up that big etc

Just one of those things were your mind tries to make connections for no real reason.

I read somewhere that Miller's original intention was that The Lord Humungous was supposed to be Goose later in life. The scarring was a nod to that. I can;t remember the reason he decided not to pursue that though.
