our first "date" (although the date came in reverse order) was to see Texas Chainsaw, snuck in some dollar store snacks, and rat around a mall and grab a pizza - we had the best time, and that was that!

Halloween II for sure, it has more suspense, scares and vicious violence. FT13th Part 2 is one of the better sequels though. I think Halloween II did better box office as well.
Exorcist: Christ's power compels you. Cast out, unclean spirit.
Destinata:💩
It did. By about 5 million or so, I believe.
X-Men: Apocalypse 8/10. TMNT: Out of the Shadows 9/10. RIP Doris Roberts. You were wonderful in ELR.
Yes, that is inspiring to know, since I feel it is the better film. It did cost around $1mill more to make though.

Still a 4 million or so more profit. Halloween II is certainly the better film.

All I know is that we have 79 days until Halloween, and my family is getting closer to our official Halloween Decorating Weekend in exactly 30 days. That's right - not messing around this year - Mid September, it is on!
Freak! Lol.

That is most definitely what she said.
shareI don't like When people decorate overly early.

we have to do it a little early as our weekends are taken up with other things - I always do it on the last Sunday in September (everything, but I don't turn on the orange outside lights until following weekend)
shareI like old school decorating. For Christmas too.
X-Men: Apocalypse 8/10. TMNT: Out of the Shadows 9/10. RIP Doris Roberts. You were wonderful in ELR.
we do Christmas, with more focus on the tree and stuff along the fireplace, although we'll do the front sidewalk and a couple of trees in red, green and white lights
sharei like seeing decorations up early

Halloween II, easily. I never understand the hype with the Friday the 13th series.
shareThe first 3 Fridays are pretty good. After that it went seriously downhill. Same can be said for Halloween. Friday is different because 2 was actually the first adult Jason movie, when his Mom was in the original. The 3rd he got the iconic hockey mask and "died" from an ax to the head. So those were watchable.
Halloween II is still odd for me after watching the documentary about how many people didn't want to do it, the added gore/blood and all that came with it. Just didn't utilize everything that made the 1st movie so successful.

Jason died in the Final Chapter not in part III....
sharethat's right. completely dead.
watching it tonight

Well, he should've been dead with an axe to the head. Taken to the morgue and everything. His first resurrection. Still, technically could've missed the brain, I suppose. But he was "left for dead" at the end of 3, whereas 2 he just got a machete to the shoulder and which ending you believe.

He was unconscious in the end of part III - I think U haven't seen the final chapter? - The beginning at the hospital gives U hints that he is still alive...

I liked them both - My only problem with the sequel of Friday The 13 Part 2, it was too short, mainly the reason they added like 10 minutes of flashbacks & the MPAA cut out so many scenes out...
But they R similarities with both sequels, both officers get a hammer behind the head.
New audience members needed the flashback and the MPAA back then was a lot stricter than it is now. So it had little choice but to be that way.
Attention spans even back then only lasted 90 mins.

New audience members needed the flashback
The sequel was only one year old - Halloween II only showed the last few minutes unlike Friday, It was the entire original Friday movie in 10 minutes or more...
Yes, but you're not gauging popularity and importance. 1. Halloween did way better in theaters than Friday at the time, though Friday did modestly, but everyone knew what happened in Halloween. 2. They both showed what was important, the Shape being shot out a window and walking away. Friday, however, had to build it's case, why was Alice beheading some old woman? Because they had to establish she was the killer, unlike Michael, in a mask, fairly obvious.
Storytelling is complicated especially in the 80s. If I remember correctly, Nightmare did the same thing for 3 and Child's Play did it for 3 as well. Resurrections and catch ups.
Some also do it better than others, admittedly. Fridays have always been notorious for their "previously on Friday the 13th" even though they were much quicker turnarounds. Halloween is not immune. How long was the build up and explanation in Halloween 4 to catch people up 6 years later?
So it's to be expected. Unwanted for die hard fans, perhaps, but still necessary for the new blood.

If people were going to see Friday The 13th Part 2 for which U said 'Friday did modestly' then it was the same fans from the first Friday who went & saw the sequel...It wasn't until part III that the new fans were catching on to the series...
A 10 or 12 minute of flashbacks wasn't needed - Jason jumping out of the lake was enough to capture the ending of the original.
This is what I call being cheap in filmmaking by adding already recorded long footage to extend the film...I seen this in Silent Bloody Night Part 2 with an excessive use of footage from the original movie...
Not necessarily. Word of mouth about Friday might have gotten out to the audience too late for it's initial release. So people might want to see what the hype was about. Same thing with Halloween it became successful, but not right away.
Those who watched the TV release and not the theatrical would be curious about Halloween II where the TV scenes were filmed.
Also, age factor. Some people may not have been old enough at the time to see Friday or Halloween. Then what? R movies were a lot more strict in those days.
"He came home." - Dr. Sam Loomis from the original HalloweeN
The 70s and 80s both enjoyed the reintroduction to the final scenes from the previous movie - The Rocky franchise was one of the first most notable to do it - and it was a widely successful, Oscar-winning franchise at that time. No one needed it as a "in case you missed it" - it was commonplace.
And, by the way, F13 became huge because of the New York City crowd, and the NY based unknowns in it, and the NJ setting - it did successful because of word of mouth. THe long reintroduction followed by intro in F2 was only using a common tactic of the day to reintroduce the audience - they weren't counting on you not seeing the first one.
I remember seeing previews of Friday part 2 on tv - I had no idea what the second Friday was all about unlike Halloween II, they showed him in the preview, but Friday The 13th, no mention of who is the killer...I thought Mrs. Voorhees came back...
shareThey never did, which is why they put the end of the last one in there.
RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time. RIP Matt Roberts. You were great.
Short attention spans then? I buy that.

I would never get a tat. What's the point? You get old, and it starts sagging, and it doesn't look like when it started.
