I don't get it
Great film, no doubt about it but I just don't get the ending.
Amos Slade didn't want to shoot Tod anymore, Copper didn't hate Toy anymore for hurting Chief....so why didn't they get reunited?

He got hitched and went to live with his new girl instead.
shareI have saved and reared several wild animals, they ALL get the call, after all, they are wild, when they reach maturity, they want released, to go free, this is reflected in the movie. Why is it to live happily ever after, people feel they must live together.

Amos was evil but he had no power without Copper. Copper was his top soldier. When Copper said it was enough then Amos listened. His other dog Chief was already injured. He decided not to follow through and had to move on. It shows that Amos was not the most powerful. He had to use a gun and put evil thoughts into Copper. Copper was the most important and was able to put a stop to it as soon as he got enough courage and sympathy. This movies really hard to understand but I think it may be something like this.
