Does anyone else think Bibi is an unnecessary character?
Seriously, why is she in this film, and what purpose does she serve?
You have 20 seconds to comply.

Clearly she was just comic relief, but was used on certain occasions as a set up for action scenes. But she's pretty, so I don't mind her.

Yes, I agree. She was probably nothing more than a comic relief, kind of like what Miss Goodnight was in "The Man With The Golden Gun".
But doesn't Bibi look a lot like Alyson Hannigan? I always thought so.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'
She also worked as a "front" to The villainĀ“s criminal activities, also he might have felt a nice obsession to have a possession like her. Like a daugther he never had, hehe...

Also her character came off as underaged. I wonder if she was there to show Bond had a line he wouldn't cross.
shareIts good to show that Bond is not a pedophile!

Bibi was nothing but a teenage slut. She was already boning main henchman Erich Kriegler before she set her sights on Bond but then she actually had the audacity to tell Kristatos that he was too old for her when he's actually younger than Bond himself! Yes, she was hot but still a slut.
shareBecause Moore looked considerably young for his age. His age and Bond's age probably aren't the same. The character Kristatos was probably older than Bond, purely because Julian Glover looked older.

I was wondering that myself while watching it today. There's no reason to have Bibi in the film.
Bibi got a lot of screen time for such a minor character, but she had a few reasons to be in the film:
1. Her gymnastic talents were a smoke-screen for the villain's true interests.
2. Her training at the Italian ski resort set the exotic location of the film.
3. It was hinted that she was under age, so this showed Bond had some morals about who he would and wouldn't sleep with.
4. The awkward exchanges they had when she would flirt with Bond acted as comedy relief.
5. She was nice eye candy for the viewer.
Chiefly, #5
...then whoa, differences...
Apart from the obvious eye-candy reason (although I didn't personally find her that attractive), it was in line with the grave scene, showing a more somber, focused Bond, that doesn't sleep with the first available female. I actually liked it.
shareBibi gets my vote as the worst Bond girl of all time.
Fortunately this is counterbalanced by the fact that Melina is one of the very best Bond girls IMHO.
Nah, no one will ever be worse than Stacey Sutton (Tanya Roberts) from A View to a Kill (with Lupe from Licence to Kill a close second). At least Bibi's scenes were semi-amusing up to a point. Hell, even Stacey screeching "JAMES!" was like nails on a chalkboard. And at least Bibi had the guts to knock the gun out of Krieger's hand before he shot Bond.
Melina was definitely one of the best Bond girls, no question.
