Flawed, but still visually-brilliant.


I was always a big fan of this film as I love English history as well as fantasy films, so this was a great choice.

Even at the time, I thought that Katrine Boorman's (Igrayne) ''acting'' was woeful, and the sound and editing was mostly off.

I think that, having seen the 'Making Of' doc can we understand why- the script re-writes, the studio pressures to wrap up, the horrendous filming weather in Ireland which cut scenes short and then the issues around sound editing and recuts added to the problems. No wonder it's disjointed.

I only wish that that duel between Gawain (Neeson) and Llancelot (Clay) had not been cut to ribbons. One second they are on foot circling each other, the next Gawain is holding a weird pointed weapon over Llancelot.
