Spoiler alert - how long will Matty stay on the run including in Tahiti?

Would any authorities abroad at all be after her or suspect her anywhere once maybe it gets discovered that SPOILER ALERT - she didn't actually die?

And on another note, will she forget William Hurt's character or perhaps, maybe once he's out or released, get him to secretly find her later and maybe he and she can form a perfect "lost couple" - LOL. :)

I too have wondered how long Matty/Mary Ann could stay on the run. If it was 2023, customs/passport records, flight records, communications capabilities between authorities, etc would likely cause her to be apprehended fairly quickly. (Case in point the woman cyclist from Texas who was murdered in 2022 and her alleged killer fled to Costa Rica. Even in this day and age it took 43 days to find and arrest her).

But since the film was set in the 70’s, I’m not sure the capability was there at the time. And if she had enough money and lived under the radar, she might be able to stay gone for decades.

Regarding getting back together with Ned…he committed premeditated first degree murder of Edmund right? Assuming that is what he was convicted of, he may never get out to meet back up with Matty/Mary Ann. Rhetorically, would he want to reunite with her? I think absolutely. Would she with him? I’m not so sure. I think she used him as a means to an end.

Thoughts? Great question!

P.S. Body Heat is one of my favorite films!

Though I don't quite consider it perfect, I do at least agree that it is a very good film and I give it 8/10, its very worth a look.
