I've never seen this movie, but I have always been into Olivia and I am straight. I had an 8th grade shop teacher (married, straight guy); whose office in his classroom had every inch of wall space covered with pics of her. I've been a fan of her (looks wise, anyhow) ever since. Thanks to Mr. Harker for helping kick starting those teen hormones.

This could be the stupidest question I've ever read on IMDb.

For one thing, Olivia wa a hot chick in 1980, so uhh ya, straight guys crushed on her big time. (Including me when I was 8)

Watching Xanadu right now (ah, nostalgia at it's corniest!) and I started looking a few of the cast member up to see where they were now and I saw this thread and laughed. So many guys in here reflecting my own thoughts. I was totally crushing on her when I was younger (I'm 32), she was way hot, really an "80s" kinda celeb, and there's nothing gay about me.

Everybody has guilty pleasures, even straight guys. Some guys like ABBA, some guys like to sing and dance when nobody's watching, and some of us watch corny movies and fantasize about pretty girls. What's not straight about that? What does it matter?

Funny topic though, even if it's an old one here.

While I appreciate Olivia's singing talent, as a straight male, frankly I just never found her all that sexually appealing. She was certainly very pretty in her younger days, but she was a bit wimpy for my taste. Nonetheless, millions of straight guys fell in love with her back in the late '70s and '80s. Like fellow Aussie songbird Kylie Minogue, she appeals to both persuasions.

All the universe . . . or nothingness. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Which shall it be?

I'm very much straight, and every time I watch this movie I can't help but think that ONJ had to be the most beautiful woman on Earth at the time. I probably sound like some lovesick idiot, but she's so beautiful in this movie it's almost ridiculous.

She's still damn hot. She's in her 60s and I wouldn't hesitate to fall to my knees before her.
