Xanadu is the best song in the movie and it's Olivia's best song overall.

2.I'm Alive-great, it's gets your heart pumping.
3.I take the Fall-Another great song.
4.Suspended in Time-This song has really grown on me. I have been playing it alot this week.
5.All Over the World-Great song and good dancing number for the three leads.

In no particular order...

Suddenly
Don't Walk Away
Xanadu

Never really cared for "Magic"

"The Dude Abides"

"MAGIC" Maybe if it had gotten more (background and feature number) play in the movie, the infidels would have been caught in it's spell. More than "XANADU" or any other song, for me that was the heart of the movie.

Come take my hand/You should know me/I've always been in your mind/
You know that I'll be kind/I'll be guiding you/
Building your dream/Has to start now/There's no other road to take/
You won't make a mistake/I'll be guiding you/

You have to believe we are magic/Nothin' can stand in our way/
You have to believe we are magic/Don't let your aim ever stray/
And if all your hopes survive/Your destiny will arrive/
I'll bring all your dreams alive/For you/

From where I stand/You are home free/The planets align so rare/
There's promise in the air/And I'm guiding you/
Through every turn I'll be near you/I'll come anytime you call/
I'll catch you when you fall/I'll be guiding you/

You have to believe we are magic/Nothin' can stand in our way/
You have to believe we are magic/Don't let your aim ever stray/
And if all your hopes survive/Your destiny will arrive/
I'll bring all your dreams alive/For you/

I'm Alive was always my favorite as a child next to Xanadu of course. I still know the lyrics to that song after so many years!

Magic
Whenever you’re away from me
Xanadu
Suddenly
I’m Alive
All Over the World

I just read an article online that the leader singer from Korn, Jonathan Davis listens to "Whenever you're away from me" every time before he goes on stage. I thought that was quite funny.

What's the name of the rock song Olivia is singing when she's in the tigerskin patterned mini-skirt? That's my favourite.

reply

The song is Fool/Country. She was hot in that outfit.

Whenever You're Away From Me
Don't Walk Away
Xanadu

Never really cared for I'm Alive, Magic, or Suddenly.

I love the title song, it's one of the great pop tracks of the 1980's.

2 - Suspended in Time, very beautiful song with Olivia at her most gorgeous singing it. If it had been a single it would have been at least a top 5 record, maybe number one.

3 - I'm Alive

4 - Dancin' - incredible mix of 1940's easy listening pop and 1980 hard rock

5 - Magic, the biggest hit from the movie, a number one record although several others were top ten songs.

Fool Country does not appear on the Original LP but it was a B side of 45rpm. I like the number in the movie but it's not much as a song (kind of repeats the hybrid of Dancin') so I guess for that reason it was excluded from the Soundtrack LP.

The entire soundtrack is amazing! My 11 and 7 year old daughters love it too. My faves from the film would be:

The Fall
Suspended in Time
I'm Alive
All Over the World
Dancin'
Fool Country

Dunno, Maybe "All over the world" - the clip is fantastic.
But I do love them all, THey all are f... great !!!
The Elo guys made some awsome tunes.
The 80's sensibility began with this movie.

And, of course, Mr. Geny Kelly was a genius !!!

My favourite song and scene in the film is Suddenly. I think it suits both actors enormously not to be having to stuggle with reciting crap dialogue and instead show their charm and appeal.. And they both have amazing smiles.

My favourite song is Suspended in Time - though its one of the lowlights of the film and practically stops it dead in its tracks with just focusing on a sad looking Olivia. The deleted clip on youtube that shows how it was originally filmed as a lovescene between the two leads is far more emotionally involved and they made a big mistake changing it (but then the film made many big gaffs!)

My favourite ELO song is The Fall which I find haunting....Odd that it didnt make it onto the ELO greatest hits double cd whereas some other not so great ELO songs did..
