In the re-make cast Keira Knightley as Elise!

I think she would be perfect in the role. Anyone agree? Disagree? Which actress would you like to see in the role for a re-make?

First, while Keira Knightley has the looks, I don't think she can pull it off because of her character and she doesn't give me the impression that her acting is good enough to be Elise.

Going back to the idea of a remake in general though, I believe a film should only be remade if there's something to improve on. For example using newer technologies that weren't available before, improving on the original story/acting/filming, or simply when the original is outdated. SIT doesn't fall into any of these categories. The original was pretty much perfect, newer technologies probably won't help, and is not exactly a few that will become outdated 'cos it's not a film about the present time. There's just nothing to update. A remake is almost definitely gonna be not as good. So why bother?

Haivng said that though, IF there was ever gonna be a remake, I'd definitely wanna see it. ;)

I agree.

It's unusual for me to agree with suggestions of this kind but I immediatly thought, "Yes!"

If Keira is the girl, only I would be perfect for the guy. I've kissed Her many times....alone....concentrating really really hard.....darn IRS tax payment receipt in my pocket keeps ruining things for us.

I like waking up in the morning not knowing who I'll meet or where I'll end up: The Titanic

I don't mind Keira, but she's not right for the role. Elise has to be soft and romantic and wistful, and Keira is too bold and spunky for it. I could see Rachel McAdams fitting in much better for this role.

Personally I would never ever, ever re-make this. Why spoil the original?

It would HAVE to be someone breathtakingly beautiful for the scene where Richard first sees Elise by the lake shore. I Disagree with casting Keira Knightly. That part should be a natural beauty like a Catherine Zeta Jones or someone comparable (without botox lips!)

Keira's too skinny. How about Kate Winslet or Kate Beckinsale? Ten years ago I think Nicole Kidman would have been perfect, but she's too old now (and too skinny), as is CZJ.

For Richard, I'd say Ewan McGregor. He's a good actor, and can do period drama very well.

A remake might be acceptable if it was handled carefully, with the right choice of cast and director. A cameo role for Jane Seymour would be a nice idea too.

What about Justine Waddell? And Sophie Marceau would have been pretty enough to do a remake 10 years ago.

I don't want a remake but I would watch it out of curiosity. I disagree on the Kiera Knightley pitch however. Jane Seymour was lovely. KK is a stick insect and the LCD choice of USA's version of an English woman. Facially she isn't serene at all. Years ago 'they' would have mooted Winslet. CZJ is too old and mumsy. Blanchett is plain. Kidman is too old and botoxed. I will trawl the web and get back to you with anyone caught in my net! :)

How about Bette Midler and Jack Black???? LOL!
