re: Is this Ganster film as Good as Goodfella's?

You know what after watching this film, I really do believe that this film is as good, or even better than Good fella's.

Unfortunately, people tend to forget this gangster movie when thinking about Gangster movies...

It seems to be more true to live then Goodfella's especially with The Ira being involved; which it would seem more plausible as both are using Underworld contacts to get what they want...

What do you think?

To me, these two films couldn't be more different.

Goodfellas is a biopic about real life gangsters. TLGF is a mystery/thriller with political overtones. I think what's most interesting about this film is the way it says that people like Harry (right wing, short sighted businessmen) do not control anything without placating foreign parties, either the IRA or the Americans. England does not belong to the English anymore, it is sold to ye highest bidder, and if you fight against it you will lose quickly.

Goodfellas is obviously the more epic, well known film, but there's something about ...Good Friday that is slightly more disturbing.

Pretty much. There's certainly more fascinating dimension to Hoskins's character than any of the folks in Scorsese's opus.

Completely different flms and I have to say the Goodfellas is probably the greatest post-80's thriller/action film ever made.
You could draw comparisons with LGF and Get Carter and for me the latter is far superior.
