The director hated the movie

Jesús Franco was originally hired to write and direct but after working on the film's plot, he left the project after arguing with the film's distributor Eurociné over the sparse budget. Franco was replaced by Jean Rollin at the very last minute.

Rollin later said in interviews he only did the film as a favor for the producer, and that if he had known how bad the script was, he would not have done it. He later deleted it from his filmography even though the film did very well financially.
