Wardrobe ! If it was the end of the school year at the start of the movie(Summer), why were they wearing cold weather apparel...like the jackets and Jane's boots??? Then she was in light clothing when she moved in. Very strange.

I would say because they are in Northern California and it can get chilly right up until the official start of the summer if the sun is not out. Also, she was a teacher and back then, teachers really thought a lot of the profession in many ways, one by dressing professionally, sometimes overdressing.
