Do you think that John and Claire became romantically involved at any point during the events of the movie? I know it is never addressed but it is something that I wonder about.
If not then, I certainly think that they would have become a couple later on.
I think the movie hinted at an attraction between them, but wisely did no more than hint at it. It would have distracted from the main plot, and while an attraction is realistic -- John is lonely following the loss of his family, and Claire was quite an attractive woman -- John's loss was far, far too recent, and his grief too deep for him to have plausibly gone down that road at this point.
