Was April Rush Jackie and Sara's sister?

The piano episode was the final episode of season 2. When the show resumed in season 3 the show started off with a two part episode where Muriel gives birth to Andrew. Sara (or maybe it was Jackie) takes a phone call from April and asks her "How do you like living in L.A.?". So that explained where the character went, she moved to L.A..

Since they were bringing in Audrey Meadows as a semi regular in season 3 as Muriel's mother and April never really added much to the series anyway, they dropped the April character to make room for Iris.

Also the reason they gave for Iris moving from Chicago to San Francisco was because they needed her to help Muriel with the baby. Which wouldn't have fit if they had April still living there in the apartment because she could have helped Muriel with the baby.

Then at the end of season 3 they did the episode where the built an apartment for Iris on the third floor of the house and she was going to move in with them. But at the beginning of the very next episode, the season 4 premiere, Iris moved out of the apartment and Monroe moved in. So the only time Iris actually lived in that apartment was during the hiatus between season 3 & 4.

Audrey Meadows decided she didn't want to do the series on a regular basis for another season, so they had Iris move back to Chicago in the season 4 premiere. She did do a few guest spots after that when Iris would be visiting from Chicago.
