Snake in Eagles Shadow is the Better Movie

I'm going to get some heat for this but I thought Snake in Eagle's Shadow was the better overall movie. Yes, Drunken Master has more and better fighting sequences but Snake in Eagle's Shadow has the better story and I thought the movie flowed much better than Drunken Master. Jackie Chan's character in Drunken Master was a prick for pretty much half the movie and was cocky throughout. Snake in Eagle's Shadow was different; he didn't have much confidence and he didn't know Kung-Fu...he had to be trained from the ground up by a beggar he tried to save in a fight. The movie in my opinion is just as hilarious as Drunken Master.

Anyone who haven't seen Snake in Eagle's Shadow should go watch it, the movie has the same cast as Drunken Master. If you watch these movies only for the fighting then I recommend Drunken Master. But if you want fighting and a better underdog story, Snake in Eagle's Shadow is better. Now I know people would say it's a kung-fu movie, who cares about the story...well, a good story goes a long way, even in movie with kung-fu.

I can't decide, I like both movies equally!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

It is interesting seeing the same set of actors in films about 1-2 years apart, with some very different personality traits. You're right, OP. Both Jackie Chan's character and Beggar So act very differently in the two films (both are much more mean-spirited in Drunken Master). I also agree the story is a lot more intriguing in Snake In the Eagle's Shadow. The idea an old man is getting hunted by a rival clan (with a fake Preacher with a dagger crucifix no less!) was a cool story angle.

However, I do love both films and can overlook the mean-spirited main characters in DM, as I overall saw it all as a comedy anyways. And the fight scenes in DM are definitely incredible.
