Dec '11, just watched movie, disgusted

"Pedophilia Justification" would have been a better title. Nothing to else to watch, I chose a movie that lists a Peter Fonda movie. I watch it. I am disgusted. I bet this movie has a large market (I shudder to think). And it's legal? Yeah, indie artsy. I hope I don't know anyone that this is their favorite movie.

i kept wondering about why she was shown as like a prostitute at her age. and how she was like won or bought by peter fonda's character???!!! and also, i kept thinking about how guys were trying to have sex with her???!!! and i also kept thinking about peter fonda having her as an object he can have sex with. and i also thought about her being attracted to him. and i also thought about how he actually considered being with her in a relationship???!!! he said to her something like I'm too old for you. and yeah of course! the only thing this movie could've done which would've been more over the line and inappropriate would've been for him to have sex with her. how could he have been a moral, good character in this movie? you've got to wonder how this movie ever got made with the message it sends to guys. and to think that Brooke was in another movie before this movie Pretty Baby in which she played an underage prostitute. where were her parents when she made these two movies and how could she be in not one but two movies with her characters being what they were in them? was she a bad girl or something???!!!

I finally saw this film from Texas Curly coming out of the tavern on to the end. And I don't understand the disgust or objections.

The film did not celebrate pedophilia. It subtlely placed obstacles in front of those who overtly fancied the precocious young teen character.

Beaudray did not have and was not suffering from pedophilia. He hated her company. But, after Bitterstix, he knew he was the young ward's best guardian.

Many seem to forget the story is about the orphan, and not the gambler. She was the one who was commoditized by others. With Beau, she found someone sympathetic. So she worked her charms, and never the sexual kind.

Although the ending is somewhat vague, Beau has already demonstrated to her and to the viewers that he grew to love her, with agape rather than lust.

Brooke Shields' precociousness leapt off the screen. Her manager mom struck while Brooke was a hot commodity. While Brooke's character, Wanda, had the hots for Beau, we have to understand she was talking the talk and not walking the walk. At some point, Beaudray saw through her talk for what it was, a defense mechanism. Like any child, she wanted to be taken care of and to be loved. The ending showed that!
