Hanover street is a fairly mediocre film,a lot more interesting programme was the documentary about flying the five B25 aircraft used in the making of this film across the Atlantic.Jeff Hawke was the organiser/chief pilot and it has some really interesting shots for aircraft enthusiasts,Hasn't been shown on TV for years but really worth watching.

shareI noticed that as well. Some of the shots of the plane were surprising to me. For example, they were tiny! There is one shot facing the place where you can see the pilot, co-pilot and nose gunner all together. That was some cramped space.

This is a coincidence - as I just watched this film on British TV two days after watching "The Bridge at Remagen" which also featured a low level bombing raid by Mitchell bombers - a very nifty warplane indeed.
shareThe director commented that they set up a real flak field (without the acutal shrapnel I suppose) for the B25's to fly through or close enough to have the illusion of flying through it. Cool stuff and good flying. I've always thought those scenes of bombing approaches looked nice. Now I know why -- it was as real as it could be. Neat!
