remake

thinking of remaking. casting suggestions?

Perhaps what's needed for a true remake of this classic is the casting of relatively unknown actors who happen to be able to play basketball. It worked pretty well with "Stomp The Yard", hiring actors who could also dance a little, and "Center Stage", which used dancers who could act a little. I see, LL Cool J as either DC or Hustler.

Who is thinking of remaking? Original poster? Are you leading the charge?

Mr. Dobolina ... Mr. Bob Dobolina ...

Haha, I was thinking this movie was well due for a remake as I was watching it myself. It would need to have some tuning to get rid of the homophobic / racist jokes but the sexual tension and racial comedy could still stay. Maybe if it became less serious and more slapsticky too.

I'd think for the coach another middle aged Jewish actor perhaps Ben Stiller, or perhaps Will Ferrell. LL Cool J is too old to be a college basketball player but perhaps someone from Glee or like those Step It Up Movies.

Rightsholder to Fast Break, are you paying attention?!

If they ever remade this film, they would have to cast Britney Griner as Swish. She already has a deep voice like a man and Swish is a woman pretending to be a man.

reply

They would have to seriously rewrite it because about half the movie is based upon homophobia.

Even though at the end of the movie "Swish" turns out to be more or less the heroine, the entire movie is based on the premise that it would be a horrible thing if "Swish" was actually a gay guy.

Instead of a remake...how about a remastered edition? This film is a tiny little masterpiece. Like Inside Moves, it is a basketball movie for people who don't know or care about basketball. It's about people, and about life and love and all that other complicated stuff. It's great!😁

Not sure who would remake it, but I'd watch it again if it were on TV.
