The kids in the pictures are wearing 40s style clothes which I distinctly remember the kids in the 70s version NOT wearing
And Timmy in the 70s version was a black and white (border?) collie

no way are those kids , the kids i remember from the show back then
they must have lost the 70s pics maybe?
The dog's name is Timothy in the books, and described as MONGREL DOG with ENORMOUS TAIL and really 'wrong features', saved only by his personality.
I guess on TV, 'cute dog' is better than an accurate one..
