I never realized that this was a separate show.

I never realized that "Archie Bunker's Place" was a separate show from "All in the Family." I just thought that this was a continuation of the original show. It wasn't until 20 years later that I realized that this was separate show.

My father loved "All in the Family" and referred to the show as "Archie". So he just continued calling it "Archie" even though it had changed. I don't think he ever realized that this was a separate show from "All in the Family".

I grew up in the 70's, and "All in the Family" was a must see for my family. My dad always called it "Archie" too. .

About 6-7 years a friend of mine was talking about "Archie Bunker's Place" like it was a separate show. I was like WTF, that was a separate show from All in the Family??? I had no idea.

I don't think I was really watching the show by 1979-82 but my Dad still was and he just kept calling it "Archie". He used to say, "quiet now..... it's time for "Archie". And then he would light up a Lucky Strike.

The CBS Evening News was called "Cronkite", as in "I'm watching Cronkite". I didn't even realize that NBC and ABC had evening news casts until I was 16-17 years old.

The Jeffersons was called "Weezy", as in "I'm watching Weezy".

Happy Days was called "Fonzie", as in "I'm watching Fonzie".

My parents were French so they called "Wheel of Fortune", "La Roulette" or "The Roulette Wheel".

All the variety shows were just named by the host: Ed Sullivan, Dean Martin, Tony Orlando, Sony & Cher never "The Ed Sullivan Show" etc or the "Dean Martin Show".

My mother referred to "Different Strokes" as "Le Petit Noir" or "The Little Black Kid" as in "I'm watching le petit noir, he's so funny".

Very funny JohnQ. I think it might be a Senior thing. My Mom calls "C.S.I. New York" Gary Sinise. "Ooh Gary Sinise is on!!" We went to a Lt. Dan concert that Gary Sinise is lead vocals on and she had a blast.

They were in their 40's back in the 1970's so it wasn't a "senior" moment. It probably has more to do with them being French and not really knowing or understanding the language & the 1970's pop culture very well. I guess it also had something to do with them being more familiar with 1950's t.v. where most shows had the performers name in them like The Danny Thomas show or the Jackie Gleeson show or the Jack Benny show etc.

Almost every T.V. show came down to either a character's name or the performer's name like "Archie" or "Lucy" or"Fonzie" or Dean Martin or Ed Sullivan.

The only show I remember my mother or father saying correctly was "Dallas". I guess it was simple because it only one word. Charlie's Angels was "The Angels". The Cosby Show was "Cosby".

Today my mom doesn't say "Everybody Hates Raymond" it's just "Raymond". American Idol is "Simon".

I was born in 1971, so I only remember watching the later seasons of "Archie" first run. Having a father who was similar to Archie was interesting. He used to refer to "The Jeffersons" as "N-word Archie".... but he didn't say "N word".

This WAS a continuation of the original show. The title of the show was changed after Carroll O'Connor gained more creative control behind the scenes. Many choose to think of this as a different show, due to the changed title.

I didn't think it was considered a separate show. The name just didn't make any sense since the family was all gone so it seemed like a natural progression to rename it.
