the process when Matthew was partially changed seemed very noisy and messy and would require a lot of room. We see Geoffrey cleaning up in the morning and Elizabeth is oblivious to his change. Sure was a sound sleeper.

shareits one of the main problems with the story early in the invasion someone would wake up and see their loved one being snatched. That crazed man who got killed by a car early in the movie might have been one of those people.
in the next remake how about because of the likelyhood of someone noticing the invasion is discovered early and the human race "as a whole" knows about it early in the film but you have massive paranoia where nobody can trust anyone because the pods can infiltrate by taking over certain people.
I love the film but I have to admit this is bit of a weak spot. How could this not wake you up?

I'm a heavy sleeper, example...... Family/Friends who tell me the next day they were kept awake all night because of a storm with endless crashing thunder, claiming some boomers were so loud they rattled the windows..... I sleep right through it unaware a violent storm had even rolled in.
I reacted to the wake up alarm Elizabeth had, which supports that she is a heavy sleeper.
This is not a plot hole since the movie illustrates that the pod could be anywhere nearby, even in another room, as was the case later with Elizabeth, or outside in the garden, as shown even later with several people. So when Elizabeth was in bed with Geoffrey the only thing that would've happened is his body would've sunken into a pile of dust, maybe falling on to the floor, which we see the duplicate Geoffrey cleaning up in the morning.
