Overall, this is one of those movies a lot of people think was made for TV. Cuz, back in the day that was the best explanation for such a bland, lackluster production.
BUT - Even this film - with unimpressive effects, mediocre performances and tired direction (Even the music is rather poor) does have one great moment. At about 1hr. 19min, there is a sequence where one of the main characters is trapped on the wrong side of a watertight door, helping to close it... Charlton Heston, on the other side, helping to close the door and kill his friend to save the boat - is very GOOD. Heston as the captain looks like he's been hit in the face with a baseball bat, but manages to make it back to his cabin, saying reassuring things to crewmen as he staggers along the tilted corridor, only to collapse when he gets his cabin door closed behind him. The sequence is interrupted in the middle by more bland crap with David Carradine in the rescue sub, but it still manages to work.
