Where was the Son of God to counteract the Son of Satan?

Whilst I have enjoyed both The Omen and Damien:OmenII (just shown on UKTV this Xmas) - Where was God to balance out Satan? It's an accepted fact that if you believe in God then you also have to believe in the Devil. Where were the good guys? Some Angel or something? It makes it a bit laughable that Satan's spawn can get away with everything but poor old Patrick Troughton can't even get into a church in the first film. If we're going to have some bad guys then please let's have some good guys too....The Exorcist had both yet The Omen franchise lets Damien get away with countless murders before he's stabbed with 'the daggers'. Although in my opinion Omen 3 was awful. Anyone else feel like we've been cheated by artistic licence?

Cool...thanks for ruining the third movie for me on a post about the second one. Well played.

If this is a reply to an old post, just remember: the internet lives forever.

Trust me, the only thing that can ruin 'The Final Conflict' for you is actually sitting down to watch that complete and total piece of crap.

My sentiments exactly Doom 

reply

Don't worry, it doesn't ruin much. I mean, how else was the last movie in this series going to end.

(Also it's just not that great, as others mentioned. If you have any movie spoiled for you, let it be that one.)

Where was the Son of God to counteract the Son of Satan?

Near 2000 years ago, he was tortured and executed by Roman pagans at the behest of the Jewish Pharisees. After that, we're on our own against the Dark Prince and his minions. Until the late 1990's, when the Son of God reappeared in a small town in the mountainous regions of western North America. The man waged an epic and climactic battle against the Dark Prince.....at the forum. Though significantly outmatched (by nearly 200 pounds), the Son of God persevered and claimed victory, but only because the Dark Prince allowed himself to be defeated. Being the only one who wagered on the Son of God to win the epic battle, the Dark Prince claimed all of the winnings for himself, reducing the people of the small town of South Park to economic ruin and despair. Some inhabitants of the town were heard to refer to the Dark Prince as a 'jerk' for the wrongs he had committed against them.

Have you been smoking some superb herbs?

reply

No sir, not in many years. 

God was there in the main characters and whoever else was trying to stop Damien, of course. It's bizarre that you'd get all the way through both movies and say there are no good guys.

And the actual son of God is born in the third movie, which you've seen, so I'm wondering why you're even asking.

reply

Shame he wasn't about in the first two then eh?

reply

Sure was. I've kind of lost track of what you're criticizing now, I'm sorry—first it was merely "good guys, an Angel or something" and now you seem to have a problem with Jesus Christ Himself not showing up at the start of the very first movie.

reply

I don't care what you say the omen 3 can't be as bad as the exorcist 2.

Well, I didn't say that.

I mean let's not get crazy now.

How about a spoiler warning next time? A spoiler of part 3 in the board of part 2... are you stupid or just an a$$hole?

reply

Yep, just ruined number three for me too and it doesn't matter what I will finally think of it. (Wasn't there a four as well? Maybe that continues the story; I don't know.) Thankfully I waited until I finished with two before coming here and seeing the subject 'Why did Damian Kill Ann?' which is the penultimate scene in the second movie! People on these boards don't think.

No it isn't.

Please give a clear explanation. If a person believes in one all eternal power then the ying and yang principle must be present. If you have evil then to balance the scales you must have good. The Bible is full of good and bad, ergo if you believe in God then you have to believe in the devil, not to believe would make a mockery of The Bible and of your own beliefs.

OK I will, no it is not an accepted fact that if you believe in God you believe in the Devil; unless you are a fundamentalist.

So it's ok to believe in God....this being the good side - and not believe in the Devil, this being the bad side? Well when God actually presents himself to me and says 'Nick, it's ok, there is no Devil' then i'll belive Him...until then it's Ying and Yang....if there is a God then there is a Devil.

This being YOUR belief.

My belief is there is good and bad in all walks of life...what i'm saying is - and this is going back to the film - if there is evil then there must be good.... I just didn't see any good but we were all 'treated' to a vast amount of evil...as we were in Damien Omen 2 Life is Ying & Yang.....we cannot have Ying without Yang....as we cannot have good without evil.

I'm sorry, but I would like to mix myself into the conversation. As a Christian who was brought up in the Catholic faith, lapsed, then through a miracle found God again, I have always believed in the devil and God's triumph over him. If there never was a devil, or a hell, then why did Jesus die for our sins in the first place? From what I understand, Jesus died and suffered for us up on that cross because God loved us so much he didn't want us to live in a state of sin and go to hell. If the devil doesn't exist, hell doesn't exist. If hell doesn't exist, sinning has no consequence for us in the afterlife. If sin has no consequences for us in the afterlife, Jesus died for nothing. If Jesus died for nothing, Christianity would be a lie. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I've always believed it worked.
