So what is the big secret about the daughters? I only caught about half the movie

I don't understand this. I see it at the IMDB over and over.

WHAT kind of person comes to the IMDB, WITHOUT having seen the movie, and asks "How did this end?"

WATCH THE MOVIE, for cryin' out loud! That's what it's there for.

And listen... you can watch the Bogart film 5 or 6 times and not get it. But if you watch this ONCE, and actually pay attention, EVERYTHING makes sense.

This is probably the only real "classic" in Michael Winner's entire career.

Dreadful movie, in spite of the fact that it followed the book more than the Bogart version. Only Mitchum was worth watching this for.
