Why Cincinnato?

Just watched the "Drunk Promotion" episode.

In this one, Venus sports what looks like a regular Cincinnati Reds jacket throughout the episode, only it clearly is spelled CINCINNATO.

Does anyone know why this happened? They wouldn't sell one misspelled, surely.

Why don't we just shoot 'em down and be through with it?

I watched that the other day and didn't notice that. I may have to put that DVD in and watch that episode again (although I'm already into season two). Maybe it slipped by me because I'm getting old at almost 49 years old! 

I'd be very happy to be myself if I could remember who I am. Who am I?

reply

Same here. I'm on season three, but I guess I'll go back and watch that one again tonight. By the way, I'm almost 51! 

Ha, my brother will be 51 in less than two weeks. We both used to watch this show, though now I think he would absolutely refuse to admit ever watching it. I loved it then and still love it now. And I've watched all the episodes already.

Thanks for the reply, "kids."

I was nearly finished watching the first season's DVDs with my wife, halfway through that episode when I said, "Wait a second, his jacket doesn't end with an "I." It's easy to read enough to think you know and never look closely--I do it all the time.

This episode was "Fish Story" and the whole episode was supposed to be a slapstick 'slap in the face' to the powers that be. So I wonder if the jacket was apart of that joke or slap in the face. Surely not.

I watched that episode a few nights ago and was thinking that was an O at the end as well...if true, no idea why.

We've watched the first 17 episodes on our DVDs so far, and won't get to "Fish Story" (#21) for a few more days -- however I recall noticing Venus wearing a red sports-type jacket a few episodes back. I was having trouble reading what it said, and assumed that was because the fabric fell into folds, so that I couldn't see the whole front at once. Didn't think too much about it, but now I'm beginning to wonder....

In "Fish Story" the spelling is quite easy to see (though you still might not notice if you're not paying attention to the jacket). Did an internet image search on

Cincinnato WKRP

(then assured the search software that I really did mean that spelling) and there are bunches of red tshirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, stickers, mugs, etc. for sale with the "Cincinnato" logo -- surely a testament to the lasting popularity of the series!
