Exactly what year is this supposed to take place?

Granted the period it the roaring 20's, but which year specifically? To my knowledge, Valentino made only two films as the sheik carecter (The Sheik and The Son of the Sheik.) Of these two, only The Sheik was made by Paramount. From this, I can only guess the early part of the decade. Do any of you have any insight into this.

Well according to Gene Wilder's autobiography "Kiss me Like a Stanger" the specific year was 1927, at least thats what I heard.

The scene with Rudy tied up and tortured is from The Son of the Sheik so at least 1926 before he died.
