Arnie was very arrogant in 'Pumping Iron'

As much as I love Arnie (he's one of my favorite actors), and as much as I love "Pumping Iron" (it's my favorite documentary), I have to say, the man came off as very arrogant in it, don't you think?

you need that attitude ala MJ. I am not surprised at all. Ernie was not just a body builder. For him it was a way of life and a philosophy. Having treated as a religion I was not surprised at all about what he had to say( like being cold and blocking everything even during adverse personal tragedy-not for mere mortals. He ruled the world for this reason- a positive attitude, never say die spirit, love for america as it gave him that opportunity to get big. the competition demands just that. And if you are not committed you wont win. The competition is at world level and all the way you saw what kind of competition he had to face!)

so you he may come across as arrogant but he is expressing the state of mind and state of affairs there to win it all!

reply

Yes he does, however to have the kind success that Arnold has had over his life you need that kind of arrogance, or self belief in yourself. No one is going to give it to you.

reply

Not only arrogant but also a bully. That story about how he told a guy to scream during posing at a competion was super mean. What a jerk!

reply

Try... hilarious. You'd need to be a chump to fall for that.

"I'd already called my mother and told her I won."

you will also be very arrogant if you win something 5 times in a row! It is the game.humility has no place. some one will eat you alive, if you skip a beat.
All greats have it. jordan had it, tiger had it( can he even put these days?)

And it wont last. so you as well make most of it.

reply

Indeed he was. Arnie admitted himself in the 20th anniversary edition, that he may went a little overboard.

He's not arrogant at all. You're not arrogant if u can back up the talk which he did. Guys a genius

It was his persona in this movie. This wasn't a true documentary; it was a "docu-drama." They had to play up the personalities and the conflicts.
