creepy moments in this series

I'm not particularly squeamish, but there are a number of scenes that give me the creeps.

1. Peter's murder. That knife is frightening.
2. When the announcer explains that Jessica did not kill Peter, but who may have.
3. When Mary is confronted about who the true father of Danny is.
4. Concerns about the flying alien baby.

Yes, the fadeout on Season One is very creepy:

Rod Roddy: Jessica Tate didn't murder Peter Campbell. One of these people - (Corrine), (Chester), (Benson), (Burt), & (Jodie) - did. Who killed Peter Campbell? The answer on the next "Soap."

Jessica: I'm innocent.

One I also found a little unnerving was the first time the characters left the nursery, and then the wind starts whistling, and such on.

I didn't watch the first season, but I distinctly remember the ending of the episode where Corrine was saying she didn't know who her baby's father was, then after everyone is gone the wind blows into the room and things are flying around, including I think a teddy bear. I was probably 14 at the time (I am 43 now) and I still get chills thinking about it.

when the baby first made stuff move, that jingling gave me the chills.

I agree with the people who said the final minutes of the Season 1 finale was kind of creepy....Rod Roddy's voice had a slight creepiness to it and the music matched....and then the pictures of the 5 on the screen for some reason is creepy as well. Maybe because the pictures were grainy and not clear.

Even though it was obvious that it would be Dutch and Chester, I remember being a little spooked by the scene where Jessica goes into the basement once most of the family disappears and all she is holding is that candle and then Dutch grabs her and her scream is muffled and the music is deep and creepy and then it swells as the screen fades.

When the dresser starts to tip over above Corrine and you hear a scream (which is Jessica coming up the stairs), it sounds like an unearthly scream, or from an audience member. Very spooky to me.

Oh god, I remember watching Soap when I was eleven, home sick from school. I think I saw the part you just mentioned when the wind starts rustling in the nursery. It is still scary. I also remember something about the dummy being rather frightening.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need.

I used to think i was the only one who thought there are creepy moments in the series.

Yeah, The ending of season 1 gave me the chills also when it first aired 30 years ago. The music and the pictures of the five suspects added to my fright. Very outstanding otherwise.

The shadow of a guy who was stalking Danny. spooked me.

Wow...this is wild. Apparently, a lot of people had that same reaction to the season 1 finale. I was so shocked at even the reading of the verdict in that episode, because you could the hear the audience gasp also. Then, the background music goes into almost a dirge-like death knell, and it wasn't a comedy anymore. Then, to top it all off, that weird freeze frame and Rod Roddy's creepy revelation.

What a twist, eh?

Never found any part of the series spooky or creepy. Just laugh and laugh and laugh! I've watched te entire series at least 6 times and I still laugh.

The fadeout on the first season was kind of creepy, but in an intriguing way to me.

The whole possessed baby thing bothered me. It was just so creepy and out of left field.

Chester at the end of the final episode with his gun once he said "You would make a fool of me.." and all that, that creeped me out! Never finding out what happens to them all makes it worse.

I agree with all of the things you all said except for Chester about to shoot Danny. I just watched the final episode, and have a a new one that wasn't mentioned. It's the last scene Burt does on the show. He creeps into a room with a bat, and there are guys in the room with guns drawn, and a guy behind Burt with a knife. That's the creepiest moment to me.

I was only 7 when this originally aired and I had to sneak to watch it every week as it was on way past my bedtime (thanks for putting cable in my bedroom, folks!), but I still very clearly remember the nursery scene and being scared out of my wits. I had recently snuck and watched Rosemary's Baby as well, so despite my young age, I knew what the implications were.

Even as a little kid I knew this show was something special, even if I couldn't explain why until many years later. Thank goodness my mother was also a devoted fan so I wasn't punished when she found out I had been watching it all along!

Was just watching it again on DVD and the Sunnies creep me out. I don't know why. They just do.

Also surprised to know how many other people were creeped out by the fade out for Season 1. Excellent show!
