I don't know about now (since Taxi Driver was filmed, we've gone through up and downs, from a kind of born-again prudery to "looseness"); but in the 1970s, during the age of Porno Chic, it probably was more common. I remember going on a first date where the woman suggested we go to a porno movie that was getting a lot of buzz at the time.

A porno movie first date? Hell no. I don't think most women like porn. It's degrading to women, some guys like that. Watching some idiot ejaculate in a woman's face, not my idea of a fun date. Ever.
