If you had to manually uncouple cars from a speeding train..

..would you pull up the bar from the Car that was going to slow down, or would you do Gene Wilder's way which was stretching over to the bar and uncoupling it from the car that was going to speed away and then having to jump cars? it always bugged me they did it that way lol

That always struck me as more dangerous. Why would an avg schmoe want to do it the hard way??

Maybe because then the cast wouldn’t have that celebratory moment at the station and instead would be slowing down anticlimactically. Unless they all jumped back on to the engine for some reason. Neither way makes sense if you want them there at the crash.
