My opinion: No.

The chief may be precociously smart for a 12- or 13-year-old, but that doesn't mean he's incapable of making mistakes. He doesn't have the worldly experience to account for all the investigative techniques that Cameron's disappearance will entail. What he does have is the overconfidence of youth and the arrogance of entitled youth; and those are two constituents that go before a fall.
