Anyone wish that Mickey was a little less of a jerk to Rocky?

I can see making Mickey a cantankerous old curmudgeon. A guy who is old and often in a bad mood but at his core is kind hearted and will help you if you need it. He wasn't like that. Mickey was a complete a-----e to Rocky. Big time. Insults him in the loudest and most public ways. Takes his locker. That's beyond a bad mood. That's nasty and PERSONAL. Then of course when Rocky gets a shot at the title, Mickey goes to him hat in hand. In other words, he only starts treating Rocky with any civility when Rocky has something he wants.

Anyone else feel this was overdone?

yes well all that was brought up by rocky in the movie, wasn't it. mickey seemed to be acting that way towards all people, my favorite scene of the entire movie is when two girls approaches rocky and mickey lashes out at them and they run off terrified. very funny role, i probably would have liked the sequels after the third better if mickey was in them. i had a much bigger problem with paulie, he was so loud, obnoxious and mean to the sister...

awaiting summer as snow began to fall,
you were all tucked up trapped indoors,
your soft hands over map where no wheels would roll,
tight clothes moulding around your luscious forms,
smooth hair you were throwing,
i began perspiring and outside grass came growin,
melted as summer heat came blowin.

Mick was a fairweather friend who rode Rocky's coattails for the rest of his life. He ignored the guy and treated him like garbage until he saw a meal ticket.

I don't think it was overdone, but I do think that motivational stategy is stupid. It's the same stategy used in the film "Whiplash".
