Enough said. This score is his magnum opus and everyone should know it. Simply brilliant - majestic, beautiful.

I share your feelings as well. I first fell in love with this score when I was a teenager growing up in Japan. I borrowed the album from our military base library along with Jerry Goldsmith's soundtrack to LOGAN'S RUN. I had the original soundtrack on CD for many years. It was included on a Herrmann compilation and it was fantastic as usual. It's contents are the same as disc 2 of the new release. The sound quality and liner notes are fantastic! I also received my copy of Goldsmith's WARLOCK.

shareI watched this movie today for the first time and came to this board expressly to find out who did the lovely score (I missed the credits) and lo and hehold it turns out to be Bernard Herrman. I should have know, he is so brilliant.

His score for 'Vertigo' kept coming back to me while watching this movie. There are similarities in the plot too.
