Sir Alec's accent

Just saw And Then There Were None and was struck by how closely Alec's accent as Benson sounds so similar to Richard Haydyn in ATTWN. Since the latter is a classic Christie mystery, I wonder if it was a purposeful choice.

When I saw Alec Guennis play Hitler, I had to stifle myself from laughing, because I kept hearing the butler while seeing Hitler. It was almost like a Mel Brooks parody of Hitler's life it struck me as funny, yet it was not funny.

I know this was years ago. But its Bensonmum, not Benson.
