Olivier is brilliant

If he were not already the most celebrated of actors - if Szell had been his first major role - he would've won numerous awards & walked off with an Oscar. His embodiment of the polished, sadistic Szell was chilling, superb. The multiple ways he found to say "Is it safe?"; consistently speaking with slightest hint of a German accent; the repressed panic he conveyed while in the Jewish Diamond District; his remark "I'm beginning to find you rather detestable. Can I say that without hurting your feelings?" - said quietly but conveying such malevolence; his hushed, icy response when Janeway says he loves his country: "So did we all"...so many inspired moments. A stunning performance.
