Viewable anywhere?

It's out of print, and I can't find it on Hulu or Netflix. And I prefer to avoid those "watch for free" sites filled with popup ads.

Any other options?

I just sent an email to Criterion asking them to reprint it in honor of David Bowie. That's all I could think of now.

I hope that someone can find a way to make it available to today's audiences and thus today's DB fans. I literally saw this movie 40 years ago at the theater, and I remember it being both a touching and a gut-wrenching story. Both DB and Candy Clark were great in it.

I saw it back in 1976 in the cinema too and was also greatly touched. I lot of people on this message board have slated it - but this is because they do not have the ability to understand the subtexts and were just expecting a straightforward SciFi adventure.

Even now I still wish he could have saved his family - but of course corporate greed made sure he didn't. I love this film - it has a dream like quality.

I have the Blu-ray from Amazon and it looks stunning.

RIP David - I still feel devastated.

I sent Criterion an email as well. They had an excellent re-issue of it.

Watching it right now via iTunes rental ($2.99 or purchase for $7.99). Unfortunately it's only standard def, but it's not like it's a visual masterpiece that would benefit greatly from Hi-Def in the first place. I also don't believe it is the directors cut, but I'm not sure.

It's currently on Encore Comedy station (channel 204 with Comcast/Xfinity) but for some reason the menu hasn't changed it says Mr. Mom with Michael Keston which is what I meant to watch in the first place lol had no idea what movie this was until I looked up bowies filmography and found some shots that matched on this page

Encore Classic Channel will be playing it Saturday January 16th at 2PM and 9PM Eastern Time.

Yes! I just saw it tonight at the Jean Cocteau in Santa Fe (George R.R. Martin's theatre). Most of the movie was filmed here in New Mexico. It's the second time in as many years it has screened here and there's four more showing between now and Thursday. Sunday night's showing is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and will be followed by a Bowie singalong. http://www.jeancocteaucinema.com/film/the-man-who-fell-to-earth/
It's a brand new DCP print and it looks fantastic!

Hey - Keep checking your cable listings ... I'm watching it now on Comcast channel 156 ENCRC (Encore?). Came across it by accident - Heard of this movie for years, but I've never seen it before.

I just watched it on Google Play. The definition wasn't superb, but it was better than the 1998 Fox Lorber DVD that I borrowed from my local library and could barely stand to watch.

I've heard that the Criterion DVD has a totally different version that makes more sense. Well, it'd have to.... :)

It was on cable last night - I think it was the Indie channel. Unfortunately it was on late, and I kept falling asleep.

So I came here to fill in the gaps, and I see it's available here through Amazon. :) $2.99
