CAN ANYBODY RECOMMEND ANY OTHER SIMILAR MOVIE?

Hi, I have just watched The Haunting of Julia and really liked it. I have got The Changeling which I also like. Can anyone else recommend any other good supernatural/ghost movies? Thanks

Don't Look Now
The Tenant

Hi, I have seen Don't Look Now years ago and I loved it and I have never seen the tenant so I'll look out for that. Thanks

I can't find any info on The Tenant, even on IMDB. ???

reply

it is a roman polanski film also titled Le Locataire

The obvious recommendation would be The Haunting, but you probably have seen that one already. The Woman in Black is also great. Some other good ones...

Paperhouse
Lets Scare Jessica to Death
The Sentinel
Carnival of Souls(original)

Black and white cat, black and white cake.

Regarding The Haunting....I've seen the remake but never the original, this is another one on my list to buy. I've got The Woman in Black which I liked better watching it second time around. I liked The Green Man too starring Albert Finney...you should watch that if you haven't seen it. Thanks :)

cathy's curse, a similar theme made around the same time. accept a mother and her two kids get in a car accident after the mother finds out her husband had an affair.

the daughter comes back to haunt anyone that lives in her house.

also has some scary music. scared the crap out of me when i was a kid.

Yes, she comes back in the form of an evil doll. The doll has really scary-looking eyes that closely resemble the eyes of the daughter's mother. It's kind of disturbing, although the movie, as a whole, has some moments that are more funny than scary. Then there are some scenes that were meant to be funny...I think. The attic scene with the glowing eyes is spooky, too.

it would prob make me laugh now but the first time i seen it was 3 or 4 so yeah that's why it scared me.

there is also the watcher in the woods, not really a horror movie but it has kinda freaky music with kyle richards, bette davis, lynn holly johnson.

also the entity, plug your ears at the music it's nerve racking. and the lady in white.

Thanks for letting me know. I will look these movies up.

For me the finest ghost films after the original "The Haunting" are "The Uninvited" even though it was made in the 1940's. "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" is also superb and "The Portrait of Jenny" is shall I say haunting. All older films, but they hold up very well. Watch them all on the same night -- no gore, just pure delight.

What is the meaning of meaning?

The Devil's Backbone.....If you like foreign movies, this one is excellent.

It is masterful.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

Ghost Story

It's a classic, I love it. It was made in 1981 and has some huge stars in it.

reply

It's interesting to note that Ghost Story is also an adaptation of a book by Straub. Full Circle, however, is far better and deserving of attention. Ghost Story had a far bigger budget and more famous actors and was made by Disney but was a failure at the box office largely because it didn't make any sense and it was terrible, if only because it was an attempt to make a book into a film by Straub that was ten times more complicated than 'Julia' (which became 'Full Circle' aka 'The Haunting of Julia'].

Not sure if it is on DVD but "Alice Sweet Alice" is similar in style...and also that it was a bit of a let down. Not necessarily simialr story - but gives you that "great.. now this is gonna be stuck in my head" feeling that "Dont Look Now" and this did. I just finished watching "julia" on Fear net and have that creepily frustrated..yet satisfied feeling.

try comfort of strangers with chris walken-creepy as f#ck though nowhere near this one. plus i was gonna say don't look now but somebody else already did

Is this your homework Larry?

In addition to just about all of the ones here, I'd add "Audrey Rose." Not a horror movie per se, but I found it similar in tone to this film.

"My brain rebelled, and insisted on applying logic where it was not welcome."

reply

I'll add Lady in white starring Lukas Haas.

Don't know if you'll still get this info but, if you haven't seen it, THE OTHERS with Nicole Kidman should be right up your alley.
