There seems to be only one DVD for this film, and what an absurdity: you have to watch it dubbed into english from german because the only english subtitles are for the commentary, not the dialog.
This is kindof ok for for kung fu movies and the like, and i know some people think franco's films are part of that 'trash' genre (non-pejorative), but i mean, KLAUS KINSKI!!! who wants to have Kinski's acting cut in half by some dub-over.

I am not a Franco expert, but anyways...
if you are intersted in seeing Franco because of his reputation (extreme gore, sexual exploitive, etc.) than this is not the film, though it does have its share of nudity and cronenberg-esque gore. but it is a more controlled film, using steady camera shots and clean editing as opposed to his otherwise more guerilla style. It is slightly noir, thus not shlock nor trash (non-pejorative).
Yes, it is good, but like i said, this english dubbed thing (though comical at times for the bit parts) really ruins our enjoyment of watching Kinski.
I myself would like to get more into Franco and I think I will check out Vampyros Lesbos (whata Title!!!), seems more akin to Troma and H.G.Lewis (fr. Something Weird), but then again, maybe i'm wrong.

there is something wrong. on my player if you turn the subs on they don't play and vice-versa. Plus, if you select english audio you still get the german soundtrack.
and the audio button on my remote will not let me change it. i haven't yet tried another player though.
still, i was impressed by the level of extras for a budget release (this and seven others for 13.99 on Play - baragin - even if most of them are cut)
Well, at least I can assure you that the German version is equally dubbed. As usual for Euro-B-movies of the 1960s and 1970s, all actors performed their dialogue either in their mother tongue or with their respective accents, and were then re-dubbed over the final cut, mostly by professional voice actors.
Herbert Fux seems to provide his own voice, but I'm not sure about Kinski (in most scenes his voice doesn't sound like his own, but in some it does), and I'm positive that at least Hans Gauger and Nikola Weisse are dubbed by other people. -- Actually, I think it very likely that Francine Custer, the first victim, provides her own voice in the English dub. Likewise, Lina Romay's song is the same in the English and German version, but her dialogue is dubbed in German and seems to be her own in English.
I've been similarly disappointed with many films of that area: there just isn't one definitive language version, but you need all to have all the original voices (and even those are studio-dubbed for most scenes).
Still no other version....
