US DVD VERSION CENSORED

I saw this film when I was under age back in 1975 and I was anxious to enjoy it on DVD.What a disappointment!Apart from the picture quality of the R1 DVD(VHS level,at least),two of the most erotic scenes I can remember in my life(with Barbara Bouchet)were completely censored.Ah!Those puritans who decide what we should watch and what we shouldn't!Any news about possible uncensored version?(on sites like xploitedcinema or LFVW?).After all,Antonio Mrgheriti is a well-known director, not to mention Yul Brynner.

Interesting! I just bought a DVD of this movie at the flea market today. I'm anxious to see if it IS censored, since Bouchet was the main reason I spent $2.00 on this movie.
If I think of it I'll let you know.

reply

If two particular scenes do exist, then PLEASE my friend, let me know the specific distribution company of the DVD:The one is when Yul enters the stripping club(Bouchet's striptease number is gone)and the second is in a room with Barbara and Yul alone in a hotel room(there is a cut when she is about to undress).I suspect that you bought the cheap editions available mostly on Amazon and on ebay.I managed to discover a post (in www.dvdmaniacs.com)where a guy from England provided some captures(DVD,I suspect)WITH the striptease scene, but with Japanese subs.I have not been able to communicate with him so far. Also,I read in Mr.Skin's site that there is a VHS version(by Vidamerica)with these scenes intact. That's all the infos I can provide you for now. Please let me know if you find anything more

reply

The version on Mill Creek's 50 Chilling Classics movie pack appears to be uncut. Striptease and full-frontal nudity in the hotel room. Quality is on par with a VHS.

reply

Goodness,my friend, you seem to be right.I have occasionally ran into that 50 movie box,but I didn't pay attention, supposing it would be no different than the rest of the cheap crappy DVD versions. But after your post,I checked the specific details for this movie provided from the box's manufacturer company site and the picture and duration seem like the uncut Vidamerica version.I'll try to buy the pack(besides it's too cheap for all these rare movies offered, although the quality maybe VHS)and if my suspicion is correct,I'll be grateful to you.

reply

I just picked up that box set (50 Chilling Classics from Mill Creek Entertainment). The version there is not censored. The quality of all the movies in the pack is about VHS quality. It is 12 double sided DVDs in cardboard slip-covers. There are a couple of gems in there, and they are all full length movies. But the majority is scooby-doo-esque suspense from Europe, but a good buy for $20.

reply

Yes I highly recommend that box set! The quality is horrible... but there are a lot of great films there... and most uncut! You can get it from amazon for around $15

reply

That's nothing!

You can get it at deepdiscount.com for only $13!

I paid $7.00 for the Chilling 50-movie box used (but in New condition) never expecting to see Barbara's bush once again!!! I'm so glad I grew up in the 70s-80s watching local "snowy" UHF channels; VHS quality does not bother me at all!!!

And by the way, there is much more than "Scooby Doo" type European films in this pack; I highly recommend picking one up!!!

The version I watched, the Brentwood videos "Tough guys of Action" version, seems to be heavily censored--the movie supposedly runs 98 minutes, but mine ended up being only about 75 minutes or so. I was rather peeved--does anyone know if 98 minutes is the actual run time?

Priest:Of course He cares. He died for our sins.
Kurgan:That shall be His undoing.

reply

I also own the 50 Chilling Movie Pack the movie runs about 84 mins.,but it doesn't appear to be censored. There's a striptease scene and one scene with full frontal nudity so I think it's uncut, but the cardboard sleeve also says that it's 98mins. so I'm confused. Maybe the running time on the box is incorrect.

From OP

two of the most erotic scenes I can remember in my life(with Barbara Bouchet)were completely censored.

So what are the two scenes? Presumably her on stage strip about 30 minutes in, and then her sitting in the windowsill and later standing nude? She is beautiful, isn't she?
