I LOVE this movie!

Forget the politics of today, forget that most of this is made up history. This movie catches the spirit of the time - Roosevelt and the big stick, the fact that the prisoner in real life liked his captor the Raisuli who demonstrated true desert chivalry and hospitality, the American can-do spirit of the marines and the changing world of north africa and the middle east.

And the music was so good! This is just a very well made movie, great acting, even John Huston as the secretary of state. Can't say enough. And I saw this movie the first time years ago at the theater. So glad it is in wide screen now.

This was a really enjoyable movie 7/10

It's a great film. My only complaint was with some of the shooting style during the action sequences. Other than that the film, like you say, does capture very well the essence of the period.

A sumptuous, romantic epic. The reason I stopped criticising Connery's inability to do accents - what charisma!

One of my favorites! America at its kick ass best. Every time I think of The Old Bull Moose himself I see Brian Keith. Teddy would have been proud to see this film, I hope. This movie should be mandatory for freshman Congressman and Senators! While we are at it, Hillary and Barack might want to watch this one, too.

Sean Connery's portrayal of a Touareg Chief was with the respect they deserve.

The natural aggressiveness of that USMC Captain was also refreshing. God Bless the Globe and Anchor!

I saw this movie years ago at the theater and never forgot it... I finally decided to look it up here a few weeks ago to see what the buzz about it might be and discovered I'm not the only one who loved it... so I found it online and bought it, and just got it in the mail Friday... my sister and I watched it tonight and it was even better than I remembered! My sis said she'd come across it on TV a time or two but just went on and changed the channel without watching any of it... tonight, however, she said she couldn't believe she'd never bothered to watch it and she absolutely loved it... as I was sure she would... after all these years, it's still a great movie! And even though I know this part is covered on another thread, I have to say... the double time march is one of my favorite scenes... sis liked it, too!

The Wind and the Lion - a story brought to life from the pages of Boys' Own and beautifully presented and acted. The political milieux may or may not be close to that of the times in which this story is set, but that should not be allowed to detract from what is, after all, a ripping good yarn. All of the characters are beautifully acted and Connery is magnificent. I rather felt that he played the Raisuli entirely as himself ... including, of course, the Scottish accent.

There is real life ... and then there are movies!
