Election Night--Anyone Watching?

Shampoo is a great election night movie. Especially when you think of George's story and the results of the '68 election.

Another election night, another great reason to pop on Shampoo.

I don't have to use election night as an excuse to watch Shampoo. I have probably seen this movie about 30 times and enjoy watching it every time. I always notice something new in at least one of the scenes every time I watch this movie. I do find the references to the '68 election in it fascinating because I was born in the 70's and it's nice to learn more about that time in history. I definitely plan to watch Shampoo again soon.

ck - I could have done that. I've had the movie sitting on my dvr, for months! Somehow, I haven't had the inclination to watch it. Unusual for me! I've seen it dozens of times.
There's a song (St Stephens - 'Poor Small'). Listen to the clip of the 68 RNC, and hear how quaint and un-slick it is!

I was in my last band, at 30, and had a ton of girlfriends. I understand George. He likes sex but mainly likes to please all. My wife HATES this movie (we met as I was leaving the band). I'm sure part of that is she thinks I see myself as 'George the womanizer'. Actually, I see the George in me that couldn't keep all the balls in the air. Who fell for someone he shouldn't have. Who wound up very unhappy - living the life guys dream about!
I saw a clip of this movie on youtube. The music they chose for the collage was 'sgt peppers lonely hearts club band'. The guy who made that clip also understood George!
Interesting that Julie didn't like the movie (or her role), either, but did it for Beatty.
