A SYNOPSIS, PLEASE

Does anybody understand this movie well enough, to write a clear synopsis ?
It's a good film, with Oliver Reed, playing Oliver Reed, which he does with gusto. But, it's dubbed English, which doesn't help. The best explanation, so far, is found on Amazon, of all places. This is a film that needed sub-titles, to carry us through to the end.
