Melanie Griffith Under Age Nudity?

IMDB reports Melanie Griffith was born in 1957. It also says that this movie was filmed in 1973. That puts Melanie Griffith at 16, maybe 17 years old.

Yet, she is very naked in this movie. I'm not sure that's alright?

I'm guessing that Melanie Griffith, or the people that put the date in IMDB, have fudged a little bit, to make her appear younger. You know, some women have issues with age (and men, too).

That being said, this was a very good movie, and the nudity definitely added to the likeability. Susan Clark and Jennifer Warren were both topless, in addition to Melanie Griffith being naked all the way around.

When a 14 yearold girl has sex with a 14 yearold boy, it's OK, but when an atracitvely dressed or nude 17 yearold catches the eye of a twentysomething-yearold, people say it's wrong.

There were less predators and child abusers back then, so teenage nudity was not so controversial.

No, but there is (legally speaking) an age limit on being filmed without one's clothes on.

Actually, there is not, at least not in the USA, where this movie was filmed. The law regarding underage persons and film revolves around pornography, not nudity. Now today that line is blurred because we have out of control prosecutors who don't really care what the law is, but back in the 1970's, no prosecutor would have thought to go after a film maker for doing something that was perfectly legal. We just hadn't reached that point of tyranny yet.

It is rare to be nude and under 18 in a movie but it does happen. The movie that comes to mind to me is American Beauty. Thora Birch was 16 when the movie was filmed.

Of all the people who saw this in the theaters back in '75 (those born on or before '57), I wonder how many of them whine about today's R-rated movies? Rather hypocritical, I'd say.

I don't think anybody's said this, but Griffith could've lied about her age, and told them she was 18 even if she wasn't. Lawrence Fishburne was only 14 years old when shooting for Apocalypse Now began in March 1976, and he lied about his age in order to get cast in his role.

She was merely nude in the movie, she wasn't performing any sexual act, for Pete's sake! If her nudity gives you unwholesome, reprehensible thought, go see a doctor or a priest, or both.

Your math is off: she would be 15 or 16 in 1973, and wouldn't turn 17 until sometime in '74.
