Karen Black claims...

Karen Black continually claims that this film ended her high profile movie career during the mid 1970's. She has stated in interviews that she regrets accepting the role of Faye Greener and believes that she would have had a much more prolific career in films had she not made this film. She alludes to behind the scene gossip and people spreading rumours- what were these rumours, anyone know and who were the people spreading them? Although she was too old for the role of Faye I thought she did well and the film itself seems to be much underrated and has become a personal favourite of mine.

I don't think anything terribly wrong went on with Karen Black's career - she was immeasurably talented, and had creative, and dynamic roles in several independent films (which IMO are better than mainstream films). But! That's just me.

She was perfect as Faye Greener as someone above noted. She was also in Easy Rider, 5 Easy Pieces, Gatsby, and Nashville, all very good to great films in the best era/decade of movies ever. So she did all right.

Karen Black was just amazing in the role of Faye Greener. Everything about her portrayal . . . all the subtlty, expressions, etc. were great. She deserved an award for sure! I don't know how this film damaged her career. It should have vaulted her forward.
