Everyone fantasizes about killing their sister so they can claim the inheritance of their dead father?

Also, how stupid was Rogers to think he would get away with it? He left the knife in his sister's corpse which had his fingerprints all over it. Surely, that the sister was murdered just two weeks after the father died combined with the fact that Rogers was cut out of the will should have raised some suspicion.
